My most recent outdoor adventure was in the Sespe Wilderness down by Ojai in Southern California. My college buddy Maygan planned the trip and we had our trusty dog companion Albie with us to keep us safe. The plan was originally to make it to some hot springs that are about 15 miles in, but the almost 90 degree weather got to us and we settled on a private swimming hole along the creek instead.
Matilija Poppy and what I think is Coulter's Lupine.
At times we would look at the geology around us and say that it was like we were in a miniature Grand Canyon. These iphone photos really don't go it justice.
Albie keeping watch over our swimming hole. She was dog tired from numerous games of fetch the stick in the creek.
We noticed some small bear tracks close to a creek crossing and decided to high tail it out of there. The bandaged leg for scale was courtesy my clumsy self going shin first into a large boulder while trying to cross said creek. Not visible is the golf ball sized swelling that thankfully went down shortly afterwards.
There were some areas where this beautiful Matilija Poppy was densely concentrated.
